We machine custom brackets and structural support parts in Shenzhen, China, from single prototypes through to repeat batches of thousands. Typical work covers L-brackets, gusseted mounts and equipment mounting plates, usually in 6061-T6 or, for stiffness-to-weight, 7075-T6.
A bracket usually joins two parts made somewhere else, so it is judged on the flatness of the face it sits on, the position of the holes that bolt through it, and whether it keeps that shape after the material relaxes. One that measures correctly on the bench and warps in the assembly has failed, so wall thickness, workholding and stress relief are settled before we quote.
Bracket types we machine
- L and angle brackets, plain, gusseted and ribbed
- Flat mounting and adapter plates with tapped hole patterns
- U-channel, clevis and pivot brackets with bored bores
- Thin-wall covers, panels and standoff brackets
Materials we machine brackets in
- 6061-T6 and 7075-T6 aluminium
- 316L and 304 stainless steel
- 1018, 1045 and 4140 steel
- Ti-6Al-4V titanium
Design points we check before cutting
- Wall thickness against our 0.5 mm milling minimum (0.8 mm on 3-axis), so thin sections do not deflect
- Mounting-face flatness and hole-to-hole position, which usually decide whether the assembly fits
- Inside corners and pocket floors, where the smallest tool radius and any relief are set so the mating part seats
Send the STEP solid and a PDF with tolerances and we flag the features that drive cost or risk before quoting — a thicker rib, a larger corner radius or a different alloy often removes the problem without changing the function. The DFM checklist lists the checks.
Where bracket projects usually go wrong
- Thin walls move during machining, so a bracket flat under the clamps is not flat once they come off unless the setup and stress relief are planned
- Hole positions are held to the drawing but the mating part’s tolerance is not, so the pattern only lines up when both are considered together
Tolerance and finish we hold
| Requirement | Typical capability |
|---|---|
| General tolerance | +/-0.05 mm general, +/-0.025 mm on critical features only, +/-0.005 mm on precision aluminium and steel |
| Flatness and finish | 0.002 mm per 100 mm flatness by surface grinding; machined finish Ra 1.6 to 3.2 um |
| Surface finishing | As-machined, bead blasting, tumbling, anodizing (Type II 5 to 25 um, Type III 25 to 50 um), powder coating, plating, passivation, laser marking |
| Material certification | EN 10204 3.1 works / 3.2 witnessed; free material certificate on metal orders |
| Inspection | Dimensional report and certificate of conformity standard; CMM data, FAIR and per-piece photos on request |
Frequently asked questions
Do you have a minimum order quantity for brackets?
No minimum for prototypes — we machine single brackets. Production is usually quoted from 50 pieces, as below about 20 pieces the setup cost dominates.
What tolerances can you hold on a bracket?
+/-0.05 mm general and +/-0.025 mm on critical features only, with +/-0.005 mm on precision aluminium and steel. Default is ISO 2768-m unless the drawing says otherwise.
What files do you need to quote a bracket?
STEP (.stp/.step) and a PDF drawing with tolerances. PDF alone is not enough — any bracket with curved or angled faces needs STEP. IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks and DXF are also accepted.
How do I get a bracket quote, and how fast?
Upload your files and we return a free DFM review and a firm quote within one business day. Prototypes ship 3 to 5 working days after confirmation and production takes 2 to 4 weeks.
